I've been playing V-Rising and a little bit of Endzone 2 on PC lately and just setup Undaunted 2200 Calisto to play through the solo campaign.
The list of games I want to try is longer than the time I have available to read, paint and play these days so I'm going to keep the dream list going at the end of these posts and set 5 tabletop goals. Below are my 5 gaming projects for 2025.
1) Warmachine mkIV
I originally playd warmachine at the end of mkI and beginning of mk2 ~2009-2013. The faction I played was Cryx. I fell off in the middle of mkII due to moving around too much. A few years ago (~2021) I purchased the starter and few extra pieces for a faction in the game Warcaster by Privateer Press. Not sure the status of the game anymore as PP sold Warmachine to Steam Forged Games and has been quite ever since.
I assembled and primed them but didn't get around to painting. Mostly just checking the discord for the game every once in awhile. I ended up getting connected with a group here in Las Vegas that doesn't play Warcaster.. but they do play Warmachine. So.. I'm jumping in and building out an Orgoth Army for the game. It seems like the same old game with some streamlined rules and updates. I've got two Orgoth kits on the way and will be sharing results as I go, I chose them primarily for two models in the faction, the Gharlghast and the Siege Trask. Those two big bads will join the collection if I end up digging in deeper. Looking forward to getting some gaming in with the group here and too explore the Iron Kingdoms again.
Goal: The goal here is to paint the Orgoth I've ordered, play 10 games, maybe add the two big models that drew me to the line and paint a second faction starter box (Cygnar?) while playing another 10 games.
2) Strike Legion: Platoon Leader
This project has been sitting next to the table for a year now.. Two factions in the works. Getting painted up to play for this game and others. I like the crunch and mechanics of this rulesset and want to get it on the table. Check out my previous posts for pictures and a little of the faction details.
Goal: Finish painting the two factions I have and the terrain. Play the first few sample missions to learn the game (5 games) and write a battle report or two.
3) Malifaux 3e
Malifaux is probably my favorite game hands down, I've played all the way since it released from 1e to 2e and now 3e. It's a wonderful game that we'll talk more about in future posts. I'm going to get my Bayou on the table this year for a few games and complete any painting remaining on that faction while building out my second faction The Guild.
Goal: Painted and updated 2-3 masters for Bayou and 2-3 for Guild and play 10 games.
4) Fantastic Battles
I've got some 15mm miniatures that were originally purchased for Dragon Rampant but the system was too basic so I went out searching and what I found was Fantastic Battles! Should be fun to do mass scale fantasy with 15mm.
Goal: Paint up both factions I have. Play 5 games and write a battle report or two.
5) L'Art de la Guerre
I need to explore this game further. I really enjoyed my first few reads and sample games but need to get a full list created to really try it out.
Goal: Paint my Magyar faction (all cavalary..), buy and paint up a second faction, play 5 games and write a battle report or two.
If I finish any or maybe even all of these then the next project would be Battletech, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Land of the Free, Gaslands or Starmada.
Other hobbies that the blog may or may not cover include Gunpla, reading comics, toy collecting, video/boardgaming and skill toys like yo-yo, Kendama and Begleri.
