With work and life I can't ever spend as much time as I would like on hobby things but I do my best. I tend to get distracted reading different rulesets and learning about new game mechanics and not really being very productive. The blog is meant to keep me on track focused on a project or two within wargaming (four actually). Hoping it holds me accountable to finish painting and get some games played. I still love sitting around a table of painted miniatures and rolling dice so that's the real goal with all this. Paint more minis and roll more dice.
I have most of the faction base coated, doing an agrax earth shade wash before a round of highlights. To finish the models I'll be doing glowing orange/yellow for the eyes and runes and glowing green/yellow for the soul weapons and certain armor. I hadn't painted a whole army in a few years so it took a second to get back in the swing of bulk painting. It has been rewarding to dig back in and I think the Orgoth are shaping up.
I also have one warcaster for the Cygnar with enough models to play 30 or 50 pt games. After painting the Orgoth I'll be doing these guys. I spent considerable time working with jewelers wire to create electricity effects on all of them. Looking forward to seeing this army come to life.
The plan is still to play these two factions against one another for a few battle reports (written or photographed with audio narration). I also plan to begin playing weekly down at the FLGS or via Wartable online.
Goal: Paint Orgoth and Cygnar. Play 10 games against folks online or in Vegas. Write a battle report or two and play another 10 games to get better so I can play at a convention.
Goal: Paint and collect both Wadrhun and Dweghom up to 1000 points. Play through each scenario and write a battle report or two along the way to experience the game of First Blood and lowkey plan for Last Argument of Kinds someday.
Goal: Paint and collect a list for the Enlightened. Play live here in Vegas. Consider a second faction to do a few battle reports or how to play articles.
5) Is Gone!
Gruntz, Battle Tech, No Stars in Sight, Strike Legion Tactical, Force on Force, 'Nam, Clash of Spears, Muskets and Tomahawks, BOHICA, Task Force Zeta, FNG, Charlie Company, Mayhem, Castles in the Sky, Infinity, Bushido, Starmada, Gaslands and Godslayer.
1) Warmachine
Warmachine is still getting most of my hobby attention as I work on painting my Orgoth! I went with a dark purple/gold scheme using some turquoise, grey and silver as accents. Painting up three warcasters and everything that came in the boxes. I wasn't a huge fan of the models coming all in one piece. Many arrived broken and it kind of took away from that assembly side of the hobby. SFG was very responsive and quick to replace everything that arrived broken and the models have painted up wonderfully.I have most of the faction base coated, doing an agrax earth shade wash before a round of highlights. 2) Conquest (First Blood & Last Argument of Kings)
I worked on both started for the Wadrhun and the Dweghom and magnetized the arms and heads for everything in the kit that could be switched from one unit to another. Taking the extra time was definitely slower but I think spending time on the kit to utilize everything I can is worth it. I played a little intro game with both forces to learn the rules. More on that coming in my first battle report of sorts.
I liked the game and really enjoy the model style. It'll be very cool to dream up a paint scheme for these guys. I will probably collect both forces up to 1000 points where they recommend playing. There are ~20 scenarios with different win conditions and victory points that I'll be playing through to learn the rules better and really try out the game.
Without a community for it that may be the game for me. Adding two cool factions of orcs and dwarves along with being able to play First Blood I'll be able to use the models for so many other games. We'll see how things go with them. My little brother showed some interest in playing Nords.

3) Dystopian Wars
Okay.. I did it again the revolving wheel of gaming interests has changed.. I'm in a discord for the gaming store here in Las Vegas and a few guys were talking about Dystopian Wars. I played the original game from Spartan and had never got back into it under Warcradle but having at least two people to play here was too tempting to ignore the call. I ordered the Thule battlefleet set and have been working on getting it ready for primer. I magnetized it all as you'd expect and am quite pleased with detail.
I'll stick to the Enlightened faction for now but for the home and all my miniature games I'll grab a second faction eventually. Probably the Sultante but not for some time. The game looks crunchy but plays out quick with big pools of dice and naval warfare. Looking forward to collecting and playing.

4) Dropfleet Commander
Ha this is the last new one I promise.. some guys in the discord have been posting their dropfleet commander fleets and I'm jumping in with Shaltari. I have never played starship miniature games but I'm very interested. I remember reading all the rules for Battlefleet gothic in high school/college but at the time ships were hard to find.
I'm not going to go to hard on this game. Build and paint up the fleet and get a small second one for battle reports, demo games and the like. The game seems crunchy for sure and very different from my normal miniature game interests. I think the fleets will look awesome on a glass shelf someday on display and there are multiple other starship games to play them in.
Goal: Paint and collect the Shaltari, read the rules and decide on a second fleet to paint and collect for a small battle report/demo game or two. Maybe play this one online if available.

5) Is Gone!
Five games in focus was kidding myself. I don't have the time to paint, play and read five different systems at the same time. lol even four is most likely crazy to some degree. But progress is progress right. For now I'm scrapping the fifth slot and keeping the games focused to four. Those four for now being Warmachine, First Blood, Dystopian Wars and Dropfleet Commander!
That being said the runner ups that I'd like to get to over time are:
Armored Clash (already pre-ordered the Enlightened starter set!)
Malifaux (bayou and guild models ready to play again someday)
