February 2025 Update

With work and life I can't ever spend as much time as I would like on hobby things but I do my best. I tend to get distracted reading different rulesets and learning about new game mechanics and not really being very productive. The blog is meant to keep me on track focused on a project or two within wargaming (four actually). Hoping it holds me accountable to finish painting and get some games played. I still love sitting around a table of painted miniatures and rolling dice so that's the real goal with all this. Paint more minis and roll more dice.  1)  Warmachine Warmachine is still getting most of my hobby attention as I work on painting my Orgoth! I went with a dark purple/gold scheme using some turquoise, grey and silver as accents. Painting up three warcasters and everything that came in the boxes. I wasn't a huge fan of the models coming all in one piece. Many arrived broken and it kind of took away from that assembly side of the hobby. SFG was very responsive and q...

Progress and.. Changes already! - 01/19/2025

Hello again!  Time for another update and this time it has only been a week! I've been trying to make progress on my projects and this blog is part of that. Still playing a good deal of V-Rising  on PC with my brother but we've almost beat the game then I'll sink into the hobby side more. Last week I went to LVO here in Las Vegas for the first time and definitely got some inspiration to continue on the the miniature gaming and prepare some armies to play in convention settings towards the end of the year or at least by the next LVO. That and I found two more games, one of which I bought into already the second is in the wings and waiting on me to get existing projects painted. LVO was awesome to be immersed in miniature gaming if I had stayed any longer I would have walked out with a 40k army. So many players and it looked fun to participate. The side rooms and other games all looked excellent as well. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to head to a miniature gaming c...

Well What Happened to 2024.. and Hello 2025

Wow, life is busy sometimes. I had many plans set for 2024 on the first three posts but ended up not tabletop gaming much last year. I primarily played Nintendo Switch for the first part of 2024 and PC for the second. Trying to work on balance between work and hobbies better this year and still eager to get on with some of these gaming projects. Not sure I can promise weekly updates since this blog post itself is an annual one but we shall see, cheers to the year and lets hope for more hobby progress. I've been playing V-Rising and a little bit of Endzone 2 on PC lately and just setup Undaunted 2200 Calisto to play through the solo campaign. The list of games I want to try is longer than the time I have available to read, paint and play these days so I'm going to keep the dream list going at the end of these posts and set 5 tabletop goals. Below are my 5 gaming projects for 2025. 1) Warmachine mkIV I originally playd warmachine at the end of mkI and b...

Kicking off 2024 - Project Update 01/01/2024

Time for the weekly update on my hobby projects as I try to focus down on my gaming goals for 2024. Things have already changed since I started this three weeks back but that means there's room for improvement right?  I added two new rules sets to the collection this week BOHICA from Empress Miniatures covers Vietnam skirmishing and L'Art De La Guerre v4 both physical copies from On Military Matters. BOHICA is well and truly for later as I'm not planning to game Vietnam for a bit but it looked interesting and I saw a dude on youtube playing it on a gorgeous table. We'll talk more about L'Art or ADLG later.  I'm removing Five Parsecs from Home from the list as the complexity just isn't there. It's a great one to teach folks the game and one to return to when I need something quick to light the miniature gaming fires again. For now, I'll continue playing some Rouge Trader on PC. Always good to strike one from the list! Hope 2024 is a great ...

Last Gaming Project Update for 2023!

Hey all, back here for a ~weekly update. Trying to stay on the hobby path. Using these updates to stay on it and try to focus down on a few hobby projects instead of read new rules and get caught up in the next thing.  I've been busy since we last spoke but I've got to say I'm already off the path with several new games on my radar related to French Indian War, Vietnam and more. My gaming focus hasn't changed too much though I may have to add a project to the update lists.  There was a winter sale on wargame vault that lead to the acquisition of the FNG Second Tour , Modern Havok and To the Strongest  I also may or may not have another set of physical rules on the way. The struggle is real..  1)  Strike Legion: Platoon Leader - Legionnaire Games I put in some work for this project. Primed one full faction (needs to be named), worked out the color scheme on one unit type and started in on the second unit type. This first faction is an alien one combi...

Apt 113 Gaming Goals 2024 Q1

What's up, folks? I've been miniature gaming for over twenty years now! Starting with Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition and 40k 4th edition. I played Dwarves and Ogres in Fantasy and all Orks all the time in 40k. During college, I slowed down on gaming because I moved away from my regular group and shop. Since then, I've dabbled in a ton of games with the most serious having been Warmachine mk 2, Malifaux 1e/2e/3e and Marvel Crisis Protocol. I probably read more rules than I actually play and paint now with work and life, but that's the whole point of this new blog. I'd like to talk about my projects in and around miniature gaming, share progress and connect with other miniature gamers and painters out there. To try and curb my game rules adhd, I'm going to commit to some systems/eras/scales and do those first before reading too deep into other systems, at least that's the goal for the year. I'm sure this list will change and adapt with work/life and as cool...
